The moment a Scottish gangster was chased and shot dead in a pub he owns on the Costa del Sol has been broadcast on Spanish TV.

Ross Monaghan,43,and his associate Eddie Lyons Jnr,also from Scotland, were killed at the Irish bar in Fuengirola,Spain at around 11pm on Saturday.

The unknown gunman first shot Lyons Jnr outside the pub, called Monaghans, where it’s understood he died instantly.

Footage shared by Telecinco programme El Programa de Ana Rosa then shows the killer, who is dressed in black, walk towards Monaghan inside the bar.

Monaghan stumbles and drops to his knees in front of him, before trying to desperately scramble away.

He appears to turn to look at the assailant who then fires at least four rounds at the gangster at close range. Monaghan died at the scene.

In the video, bystanders can be seen fleeing as the terrifying killings unfold.

The gunman reportedly fled the scene on foot, before jumping into a getaway car that sped off.

Just before the murders, drinkers at the pub had been watching the Champions League final between PSG and Inter Milan.

The wife of one of the victims witnessed the attack, according to Malaga-based news outlet Sur,although it did not say which one.

Monaghan and Lyons are described as top members of the Lyons crime clan.

Spanish police said on Monday they had yet to make any arrests.

‘The investigation is continuing into the fatal shooting of two men at a pub in Fuengirola, with nothing new at the moment,’ a spokesperson said.

Court officials are expected to confirm today that a secrecy order has been placed on the investigation, preventing public officials from making any detailed public comment, reports the MailOnline.

These are often placed early on in criminal probes in Spain to protect the investigations.

It’s thought investigators are working on the theory that British nationals are behind the murders.

On April 21,a 32-year-old man from Liverpool was shot dead as he headed home from playing football with friends in Calahonda, not far from Fuengirola where the weekend’s shooting took place.

Four days earlier,a 34-year-old man was taken to hospital after being shot outside a nightclub in Calahonda.
